Now Registering for 2025 Classes, Workshops, Weddings, and Portraits!
Every year is a new start. This year take some time to review the pieces you have made and highlight your best and discard the rest. This is your art journey. It is important. It is why you are here. To share this part of you with others. To give hope. To give connection. To inspire. To just be you. In this course, artist Sarah Griffin Thibodeaux guides you her process of portfolio review with guidance on your best pieces, through writing an artist statement, getting your web site updated and preparing your work to share with others. We gather on an online call once a week for six weeks and get ourselves ready for the year!
Class is taught online via video call.
This class teaches the fundamentals of painting the head in oil. Students paint the model from life. Beginning with a toned canvas, students will execute a careful drawing and subsequently build up the structure of the head from darks to lights. Emphasis is on understanding the structure of the head and learning to mix colors to create realistic and harmonious flesh tones. The class will begin with a demonstration of the alla prima technique, used by John Singer Sargent and handed down through generations of atelier painters and teachers.
Class is taught in person in New Orleans Faubourg Marigny neighborhood
